Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@almcare.com.au  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Psychologists typically use the first session to understand your background, concerns, and reasons for seeking help, often involving a brief intake questionnaire.

While you can self-refer (pay privately), a GP referral (Mental Health Treatment Plan) is usually required to claim Medicare rebates.

  • WorkCover/CTP: Yes, a GP referral is required, along with a medical certificate (for WorkCover) to begin treatment.
  • Private Health: A GP referral is not required, though recommended.
  •  If your WorkCover or CTP claim is approved, there are generally no out-of-pocket costs for you, as the insurance company covers the cost of treatment directly.

 Fees and Rebates

At AlmCare, we are committed to providing transparent pricing and helping you understand the funding options available for your mental health care

  • Bulk Billing: We offer bulk billing for [specify eligibility, e.g., Pensioner or Health Care Card holders], meaning there is no out-of-pocket cost for these clients.
  • Gap Fee: For all other clients, a session fee applies. You will pay the full fee upfront, and we can process the Medicare rebate on your behalf to be paid back into your bank account.

2. WorkCover and CTP Claims. We provide psychological treatment for approved Workers Compensation (WorkCover) and Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims.

  • No Out-of-Pocket Costs: In most cases, these sessions are fully funded by the insurer with no fee to the client.
  • Requirements: To begin treatment under these schemes, we require your claim number, your case manager's contact details, and a current letter of approval from the insurer.
  • Important Note: Please be aware that insurers typically do not cover cancellation fees for missed appointments. These remain the personal responsibility of the client.

3. Private Consultations. We offer private consultations for individuals who do not have a referral or wish to pay privately.

  • Customised Pricing: Fees for private consultations vary depending on the clinician’s seniority and the specific type of treatment or assessment required.
  • Contact Us: Please ring our office at 02 9602 1908 and our friendly staff will advise you on the specific fee based on your needs.
  • Private Health Insurance: If you have "extras" cover, you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health fund. We recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm your level of cover.
