A qualified psychologist can help you work through many type of difficulties which can be difficult to cope with. These difficulties can vary from anxiety management, work place stress, challenging relationships, loosing a loved one, adjusting to injuries, and addiction. When you seek help from a psychologist, they can provide you with a safe and confidential space to discuss your thoughts, feelings, and concerns. They can help you understand, identify, and work through painful emotional, behavioural or relationship problems and provide you with tools and techniques to reduce symptoms, improve your overall well-being, and enhance your quality of life.
We understand that it can be confronting and uncomfortable to be seeing a psychologist for the first time. We will make sure that you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. We generally discuss confidentiality and the limits to it, ensuring that you feel comfortable and safe sharing personal information. We may ask you questions about your life, current situation, family, relationships, background, and reasons for seeking therapy. You will always have the choice to disclose as much or as little as you want throughout the session.
We will also ask your goals for therapy and inform you of what to expect in future sessions if you decide to continue.
Everyone's journey is different and so the frequency of appointments will also vary.
Your psychologist will discuss the recommended frequency of sessions within the first or second session and work around your preference, suitability, and comfort.
Initial consultation will generally take about 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions will vary between 40-50 minutes.
